About Brilliant Project

THE FRAMEWORK

In the era of the knowledge economy, knowledge management is increasingly important, as it is one of the core factors influencing enterprise competitiveness, affecting innovation performance and sustainable development. Technological progress and globalization are revolutionising the way of doing business, offering tremendous opportunities for innovation and growth. Lighting is one of the few sectors of building world that has undergone the most revolutionary changes in the last years. The rapid evolution of lighting technologies and IoT systems in buildings offer emerging market opportunities for the EU lighting, furniture and construction industry.

And clusters must be in the front line to support their companies in seizing the business opportunities and become competitive on the global market. These challenges require skilled and adaptable people who are able to drive and support change. BRILLIANT will support 7 industrial clusters of lighting, furniture and construction sectors in exploiting their potential as industrial network, by increasing skills and know-how of 14 clusters managers in managing their cluster organizations to better serve the needs and expectations of their firms. Managers will develop complete and longstanding cluster strategies, based on clusters’ distinctive value proposition. BRILLIANT will endorse cross-cluster learning and networking to explore and take up new business deals coming from Smart Home and Building concepts. Furthermore, partners will take advantage of the ClusterXchange to facilitate international, sector, and cross-sector cooperation between clusters, SME and scaling-up organizations. Design-thinking, experiential learning and business model tools will be adopted in training and networking to help clusters outline better their vision, objectives and services from different perspectives. The above activities, like pieces of a puzzle combine with each other creating an important contribution to cluster management excellence.

Brilliant project is co-funded by the COSME programme of the European Union.

European Strategic Cluster Partnership for Excellence.

ACTIVITIES, STEP BY STEP

CLUSTER EXCELLENCE ACCADEMY

Clusters excellence matters and cluster organisations must seek excellence in order to better serve the needs of enterprises and support their competitiveness. In fact, excellent management is required to achieve the highest impacts of the cluster within a given technological, industrial, regional, and legislative framework.

Considering the above, the main objective of BE BRILLIANT! – Cluster Excellence Academy is to play our part in enhancing cluster managers’ skills and know-how through a set of selected and customised training and capacity-building workshops, addressing topics of high interest of project clusters. The structure and learning topics of the BE BRILLIANT! training process has been defined thanks to in-depth analysis and consultation among the members of the partnership held during the preparation of the project proposal. In particular, the project Cluster Excellence Academy is based on three pillars:

1. BE BRILLIANT! – Cluster Excellence Benchmarking

2. BE BRILLIANT! – Upgrade Your Skills, Know-How & Be Ready For The Future | Find out more

3. BE BRILLIANT! – Capitalize Best Practices & Build Your Success

Each of the above-listed segments includes a specific learning path to be executed with support of well-defined methodology and training tools.

REINFORCING CLUSTERS INDIVIDUAL STRATEGIES

The main objective is to support partner clusters managers in reviewing their current cluster strategies and to develop a new or improved one along with strategy implementation plan – the roadmap for a mid- and a long-term period. The analysis and evaluation process will be carried out following the 360-degree feedback and peer review methodology to help each individual cluster to understand its strengths and weaknesses and to contribute insights into aspects of its work needing further improvement.

The activities planned will help cluster managers to get a grip on a complex set of elements that make the strategy, as first of all they need to analyse well their ecosystem, their industry, and the broader economic, social and political environment within their clusters act, in order to be able to define and target better their strategic decisions and actions.

COSME CLUSTERXCHANGE PILOT SCHEME

The main objective is to implement the ClusterXchange professional programme and to boost and facilitate international, intra-regional, sectoral and cross-sectoral collaboration between BRILLIANT clusters and their members, with particular focus on SMEs and scaling-up organisations. If you want to know more visit

The ClusterXchange pilot scheme aims at strengthening the European cluster strategic cross-regional cooperation and networking through professional short-term exchange action. The BRILLIANT project will take advantage of this new opportunity to support its partner clusters to further reinforce their contacts with other cluster organisation from the lighting complementary sectors and value chains in order to open new business collaboration breaks for their companies.

OUTREACH AND AWARENESS-RAISING ACTIVITIES

The specific objective is to ensure solid and constantly evolving outreach and awareness-raising campaign to publicize the project, its goals, actions and results among its target stakeholders and wide public, by making best use of all methods of communication at disposal and ensuring a regular flow of information, both at project internal and external level. The outreach campaign will be carried out from the beginning of the project and will focus on getting the right message to the right audience at the right time and using the right channel to ensure the requested impact and involvement.

BE BRILLIANT ACADEMY TRAININGS

Series of tailored training and skill upgrading workshops to increase cluster managers knowledge and broaden their skill-sets necessary for managing cluster initiatives and developing value chains.

ClusterXchange is a new pilot scheme to support short-term exchanges to better connect Europe’s industrial ecosystems. It facilitates transnational cooperation, peer learning, networking and innovation uptake between actors of different industrial clusters across Europe. It is implemented with support from cluster organisations that have teamed up in European Strategic Cluster Partnerships for Excellence (ESCP-4x).
